AI-Assisted Testers: The future will favour AI-assisted testers—professionals who leverage AI tools to enhance their productivity and efficiency. These individuals are likely to enjoy greater job stability, career growth, and rewards. Their role will involve collaborating with AI systems to optimise testing processes, analyse results, and identify patterns.
Changing Skill Requirements: Basic testing tasks, such as creating extensive tests based on requirements, will become less critical. The market will shift its focus toward experienced testers who excel in complex, high-level thinking. Expertise in testing and ensuring the reliability of AI systems (especially General AI) will be highly valued. Despite AI’s progress, it remains susceptible to errors, necessitating skilled human intervention.
The Third Wave of Change: AI-Driven Development and Testing: Some organisations are experimenting with AI independently developing and testing applications from scratch. The effectiveness, cost-efficiency, and quality outcomes of this approach are still uncertain.
